After last Sunday's nine goal massacre at Tottenham, Wigan hope to restore their respect and return to Premier League action as they welcome Sunderland this saturday.
Spurs have announced they will be releasing a DVD of their emphatic 9-1 mauling of the Latics, while Roberto Martinez's charges have said they will refund the travelling Wigan fans who witnessed their side come within a whisker of equalling the all-time record defeat in the Premier League.
The Wigan boss even revealed he watched the footage of the Spurs defeat 10 times to see what went so wrong in North London. But the Spaniard can take comfort that his North West outfit return to home soil where they have beaten the likes of Chelsea already this season.
Wigan left-back Maynor Figueroa could make a return to his side's starting line-up. The Honduras international, originally signed by Bruce for the Latics, is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a knee injury.
Erik Edman, who endured a torrid time at White Hart Lane, would be the man to drop out.
The Black Cats boss has warned his side of a backlash ahead of Saturday's contest and is fully aware his former team are capable of victory having claimed maximum points against the likes of Aston Villa and Burnley this term.
But Bruce will be hoping to get one over his old club and is boosted by the news star striker Darren Bent has a fighting chance of being fit for the weekend trip.
Manager Steve Bruce is also boosted by the return of defender Michael Turner from suspension, although that leaves him with a difficult decision after seeing Paulo da Silva and John Mensah stand firm against the Gunners.
Midfielder Lee Cattermole (medial ligament) could be as little as three weeks away from a return, but keeper Craig Gordon is out for three months with a broken arm.
REVIEW:
Wigan bounced back from their White Hart Lane hammering by grabbing a 1-0 win over Sunderland thanks to a Hugo Rodallega strike.
Former Latics boss Steve Bruce's return to the DW Stadium was an unhappy one as the striker he signed 10 months ago inflicted a fifth away defeat of the campaign.
The Black Cats barely threatened throughout and after Wigan's Jason Scotland hit the post in the first half Rodallega's sixth Premier League goal of the season decided the contest.
Wigan are now unbeaten in their last five home matches while the Black Cats have won just one of their last 17 away league games.
What set the tone for their performance, though, were the aggressive instincts of midfield duo Mohamed Diame and Hendry Thomas who ensured Wigan enjoyed the upper hand of an error-strewn contest.
Jason Scotland almost put Wigan ahead in the 26th minute when he rattled a post from 12 14 yards out after Charles N'Zogbia had dispossessed Paulo da Silva and then Scharner skied the rebound.
Fulop then came to Sunderland's rescue when Rodallega's free-kick was inadvertently headed goalwards by Michael Turner but the Hungarian pulled off an excellent save to spare his colleague's blushes.
Then Sunderland defender George McCartney sliced Rodallega's cross just wide of Fulop's goal as Wigan enjoyed the upper hand.
It was enough to prompt Sunderland manager Steve Bruce into half-time changes and he sent on Fraizer Campbell in place of the ineffective Steed Malbranque and went for a two-pronged attack to give Darren Bent some much-needed assistance.
The change of formation almost invigorated Sunderland and almost paid instant dividends as Andy Reid saw a 22-yard shot deflected just over Chris Kirkland's goal and then Bent headed the Irishman's cross narrowly wide.
And the Black Cats were made to pay in the 76th minute when Scharner's ball forward put Rodallega up against Da Silva.
The Paraguay international made a mess of his challenge, falling to the floor, and the Wigan striker skipped past him to roll a left-footed shot past Fulop from a tight angle and into the far corner.
Rodallega should have made the game safe in the 83rd minute but side-footed straight at the Sunderland keeper.
There were some more frantic exchanges late on but Wigan held on through four minutes of added time to record their first clean sheet since September 12.
