VfL Wolfsburg vs. BV Borussia 09 Dortmund, 1:3

Luke Williams

Desperate for a victory to renew their Champions League hopes for next season, defending German champions Wolfsburg play host to Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. Wolfsburg were dumped out of the Champions League after a 3-1 loss at home to Manchester United on Tuesady, and they have gone three league matches without a win after last week's disappointing 2-2 home draw against Freiburg. Dortmund, meanwhile, continue their ascent in the standings after a 4-0 thrashing of Nürnberg last weekend. The club is now unbeaten in their last eight league matches, propelling them to seventh place in the league. Pressure is increasing on Wolfsburg manager Armin Veh, and he will be without several players for the match. Jonathan Santana, Obafemi Martins and Sebastian Schindzielorz are all out of action for Die Wolfe. Dortmund, meanwhile, continue to be without Yasin Öztekin and Sebastian Kehl due to injury. Dede is lost for the season, and Damien Le Tallec is continuing to recover from a shoulder surgery. Wolfsburg will need to kick it into gear quickly if they are to come close to repeating last year's achievements. Look for a strong performance from Veh's side in a very tight encounter on Sunday.
