Having recently hit their stride after a horrendous start to the campaign, Villarreal look to make it three wins on the bounce when they travel to face third-placed Sevilla on Sunday.
Villarreal have climbed off the league bottom with wins over Málaga and Tenerife, and they were also convincing on Thursday in a 4-1 Europa League drubbing of Lazio.
Sevilla, who were held 1-1 by Stuttgart in the Champions League during the week despite clinching a round of 16 berth, beat Xerez 2-0 last weekend.
Sevilla suffered two injuries during Champions League play as both Arouna Koné and Aldo Duscher could miss out on the game Sunday.
Villarreal are without Marcos Senna for a few weeks and Santi Cazorla also remains out with an injury for the visitors. Several others, including Diego López, are game-time decisions for Ernesto Valverde's side.
This should be a thoroughly entertaining tie, but despite Villarreal's hot form, it will be a tough ask at the Sánchez Pizjuán. Look for Sevilla to edge by in this one.
