Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña vs. Real Sporting de Gijón, 1:1

Luke Williams - 1 Nov 2009
A week after being thrashed at Santander, Deportivo La Coruña look to get their season back on track when they host Sporting Gijón at the Riazor. Deportivo slipped to fifth after last weekend's 4-0 defeat, a game that snapped a four-match league win streak. Deportivo beat Real Murcia 1-0 in the Copa del Rey during the midweek, but they have lost their last two games against Gijón. Sporting sit ninth in the table after last weekend's 0-0 home draw against Real Madrid, but they were held 1-1 by Recreativo Huelva on Tuesday in the first leg of their opening-round Cup tie. Deportivo could be without defender Alberto Lopo due to injury, and that would leave a spot open for Zé Castro to deputize. Gijón manager Manuel Preciado has no major injuries to report ahead of Sunday's tie and will likely go with an unchanged side from the draw against Madrid. Deportivo will be desperate to get back to winning ways after last weekend's embarrassing result. Miguel Ángel Lotina's side will have it all to do against Gijón, but they should emerge victorious.
