Title contenders Liverpool FC host Stoke at Anfield, in one of the four fixtures to be played in the league on Wednesday.
While, Liverpool suffered a rare league opener defeat away at White Hart Lane against Tottenham Hotspurs, Stoke ploughed two goals past Premier League newbies Burnley away at Turf Moor.
And Liverpool have confirmed they will be without defender Daniel Agger for three more weeks as he recovers from a back injury.
The Danish centre-back misses Wednesday night's home Premier League clash with Stoke, while fellow defender Martin Skrtel is still doubtful following the damaged jaw he sustained in the defeat at Tottenham on Sunday.
Skrtel trained on Tuesday, but boss Rafael Benitez will make a late decision on whether the 24-year-old can be risked. Youngster Daniel Ayala could play alongside Jamie Carragher, who has recovered from the head injury he suffered at White Hart Lane.
Stoke manager Tony Pulis could freshen up his side at Anfield.
Dave Kitson, Glenn Whelan, Danny Pugh and Carl Dickinson are all pushing for places in the starting line-up following the club's victory over Burnley.
Pulis has no fresh injury worries to contend with from the Burnley clash.
Liverpool would not be thinking of repeating the scoreline when the sides last met, a 0-0 draw, as Stoke held out the then leaders with sheer determination.
