Luke Williams

FC Basel really need a win to stay alive in Champions League Group C, but face an extremely difficult task against FC Barcelona on Wednesday. The Swiss side haven't been very successful lately, although they did beat FC Bulle 4-1 in the domestic league on Friday. Basel will need all the confidence they can get, as Barcelona haven't dropped a single point in seven games. Basel will be boosted by the return of striker Marco Streller, who made his comeback on the weekend and in fact scored his first goal of the season. Barcelona have Xavi Hernandez return from a hamstring issue, but miss the injured Seydou Keita. REVIEW: FC Basel were no match for FC Barcelona on Wednesday, as the Catalans easily played their way to a 0-5 victory. Not even four minutes had been played when some impressive combinations enabled Lionel Messi to open the score. Youngster Sergio Busquets showed what he is able of in the 15th minute, picking up a Xavi pass before beating the keeper for 0-2. Bojan Krkic got his first goal of the season in the 22nd minute and went on to add another in the 46th minute to take the visitors to a very comfortable 0-4 lead. The fifth and final goal came from Xavi Hernández in the 48th minute with a low shot from outside the penalty area. Barcelona maintain a perfect record in Group C with nine points, and Basel find themselves in last place without points.
