Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs. Hannover 96, 4:0

Luke Williams - 19 Sep 2008
Bayer Leverkusen should be able to overcome last week's Bundesliga defeat by Hamburg with a win over Hannover 96 on Friday. Leverkusen have a rather positive record against Hannover, having won most of their previous meetings. In March this year, Bayer clinched a 2-0 win with goals from Gekas and Barnetta. Whether Gekas is available for this clash remains a doubt due to injury. Hannover will be inspired after their convincing 5-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach last week. Coach Hekking's main doubt is Eggiman, who might not be fit in time for this game. Vinicius would be his likely replacement. REVIEW: Bayer Leverkusen easily secured three points versus Hannover 96 in Friday's only Bundesliga match. Patrick Helmes scored a hat-trick. Simon Rolfes put the home side ahead after combining with Helmes in the fifth minute. Helmes himself took care of the second goal in the 19th minute, with Renato Augusto delivering the assist. The 24-year-old, who joined Bayer Leverkusen this summer ended all of the away side's hope with his second goal in the 59th minute and a third in the 67th minutes. The assists came from Castro and Barnetta respectively.
