Atalanta BC vs. FC Internazionale Milano, 1:1

Luke Williams - 13 Dec 2009
Atalanta host league leaders FC Internazionale Milano at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia as Week 16 of Serie A resumes on Sunday. Inter have to recover from their Derby d’Italia defeat, but a trip to local rivals Atalanta is far from an easy three points. A win in Turin last Saturday would have taken the Nerazzurri 11 points clear of Juve and virtually ended the title race, however their dramatic defeat leaves them just five clear of the Bianconeri, and city rivals Milan are a point closer. But the hosts are enduring a difficult season though. Their roster has the look of a top 10 team but they have struggled under Angelo Gregucci and his replacement Antonio Conte. Only goal difference separates his side from the relegation zone at present, having lost six of their last seven League fixtures and crashed out the Coppa Italia with a home loss to minnows Lumezzane. The Bergamaschi are without the injured Edgar Barreto and the suspended Jaime Valdes. Inter meanwhile miss Davide Santon, Ricardo Quaresma, Walter Samuel and Dejan Stankovic through injury, and Sulley Muntari due to suspension. Last term Atalanta embarrassed the eventual Scudetto winners with a thumping 3-1 win, one of only four defeats inflicted on the Serpenti all season. REVIEW:
