Atalanta BC vs. AS Roma, 1:2

Luke Williams - 29 Nov 2009
Atalanta host an inspired AS Roma at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia, as Week 14 of Serie A resumes on Sunday. Roma play at another level when Francesco Totti his playing for them and he was at his vintage best with a hat-trick, last week. Once again the Giallorossi will look to their talisman to see them through, especially as Daniele De Rossi is still unlikely to feature after fracturing his cheekbone and suffering from kidney stones. Unusually for Roma, he represents the only absentee, as everyone else is available for selection. On the contrary, Atalanta’s confidence has taken a battering lately with a series of poor results. They were picked up thanks to a crucial 2-0 win away to Siena last week. However, on Thursday they were stunned 1-0 at home by Lega Pro outfit Lumezzane in the Coppa Italia. Antonio Conte has had ups and downs since taking over at the helm and is struggling to keep a steady ship. Defender Federico Peluso sits out a ban, joining the injured Jaime Valdes, Thomas Manfredini and Edgar Barreto in the stands, but Cristiano Doni returns from suspension. Robert Acquafresca finally broke his duck for Atalanta last week from the penalty spot, but also missed a sitter, so Simone Tiribocchi could step in. Last season this fixture ended 3-0 for Atalanta with Cristiano Doni bagging a brace and Simone Perrotta sent off. It has not ended in a stalemate since November 2001. REVIEW:
